Super Fuelled

We all know the line “good stuff in, good stuff out”. Its a bit of the philosophy we live by when we are using all these lovely ingredients; but sometimes we need a little bit more.

Vitamin B12 is one of those essential vitamins in our diets that can be hard to come by if you don’t eat lots of animal based food.  Its known as

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that  helps keep your body’s blood and nerve cells healthy and helps make DNA, the genetic material in all your cells*. B12 is credited with having many benefits including  reducing tiredness , improving mood, helping with brain function and memory, contributing to healthy skin, hair and nails, reducing macular degeneration(eye sight) as well as being an important vitamin for bone density and heart health**

Making sure all our meals are not only packed with macronutrients like good levels of fibre, fat, carbs and protein is just the start of the conversation around nutrition . And none of it is simple. This is a puzzle that takes a lot of work to get right but is worth it. There are some general trends though that it is easy to be aware of as they directly relate to where we live and what we eat. and can be pretty quickly and easily addressed.

A classic is knowing which vitamins or minerals are often under-represented in specific diets or locales. Sailors used to get scurvy due to a lack of fresh fruit and vege. People in countries with low sunlight can be short of vitamin D which our bodies otherwise naturally generates when our skin is exposed to 20 mins of bright sunlight each day. In Aotearoa NZ , our soils are very low in selenium which depending on diet can cause problems – mushrooms are one of the only foods in the fresh produce section that provides your daily selenium needs in just one handful of fresh mushrooms.

Now to help keep things simple we have lifted the natural vitamin B12 in our Super Saussies to help keep things simple. The extra boost is just part of this broader puzzle but helps close this gap. Everything this we can do to keep ourselves super charged and firing on all cylinders seems worth it!

Next up, we will using our mushrooms to add an extra boost of our Vit D to our Cauli, Turmeric & Ginger Happy Patties.  Simple things to help us get a few more of the essential vitamins into our diets at higher levels.

Everything this we can do to keep ourselves super charged and firing on all cylinders seems worth it!

Lets keep enjoying the delicious, nutritious and expeditious goodness and know our bodies and buds will love us for it.
